CV-Schedule lets you use up to four different sets of databases to schedule different types of Services or other events. You select which Database Set you want to work with using the radio buttons at the top of the Main Menu, and it will be highlighted as a reminder of which Database Set you are using.
Typically, you use Database Set 1 for your regular weekend Services. You may wish to use Database Set 2 for regularly scheduled weekday Services. Schedules 3 and 4 are available for any other events that occur on a regular weekly basis. Example: You could set up separate Database Sets for your winter and summer schedules.
You can set up a new Database Set anytime you want to. The steps are as follows:
1) Use the Options Dialog Box to give the new Database Set a name. (See Chapter 7.)
2) Select the new Database Set number from the top line of the Main Menu.
3) Create the Ministry, Regular Service, Personnel and (optional) Special Service Databases for the new Database Set. You can create them the same way you did for your first Database Set or you can copy one or more of your existing databases as a starting point. (See Copying a database, below.)
When you create a new Database Set, it may be easier to modify one or more of your existing databases than to start from “scratch.” You can use Windows Explorer or My Computer for this purpose. (To open Windows Explorer: Click the Start button in lower left corner of the screen; Click All Programs; Click the Accessories folder; Click Windows Explorer.)
1) Exit CV-Schedule.
2) See Appendix I to determine your source and target files. Example: You are setting up new Database Set 2. You want to start with the Ministry and Personnel Database files from Database Set 1. From Appendix I, the source files from Database Set 1 are 1-MSTY.DB and 1-PEOPLE.DB. The target files for Database Set 2 are 2-MSTY.DB and 2-PEOPLE.DB.
3) Locate the folder where CV-Schedule is installed (usually c:\cvsched) in Windows Explorer or My Computer.
4) If you don't see the Edit menu at top, press the Alt key on the keyboard.
5) In the file listing, click on the first source file to highlight it (1-PEOPLE.DB in this case).
6) In the Edit menu, click Copy.
7) In the Edit menu, click Paste - you will see a new file named something like 1-PEOPLE - copy.DB or Copy of 1-PEOPLE.DB.
8) Now click on the new file you just created to highlight it.
9) On the File menu, click Rename.
10) Type in the name of the target file (2-PEOPLE.DB in this case).
11) Repeat steps 5 - 10 for the other files you are copying.
12) Restart CV-Schedule and select the new Database Set. You will see the files you just copied. Now you can change
the files as you wish.
