6  Working with Dialog Boxes

6.1 Clicking a button

You perform an action in CV-Schedule by “clicking” a button. There are three ways to click a button:

a) Move the mouse pointer over the button, then press and release the left mouse button.

b) Hold down the <Alt> key and press the key corresponding to the underlined letter in the button.

c) Use the Tab key to step through the items, then press the Enter key when you get to the button you want to click.

6.2 Fields

Dialog boxes contain fields where you can type in and modify information. There are two ways to select a field:

a) Move the mouse pointer to the point where you want to begin typing, then press and release the left mouse button.

b) Use the Tab key to step through the items until you get to the field where you want to type.

6.3 Radio Buttons

Radio Buttons let you select one of several options. Click the option you want as you would a button. The Sunday option is selected in this example.

6.4 Check Boxes

Check boxes can be checked or unchecked to select an option. Click the box to check it. Click it again to uncheck it. The Long Distance option is not selected in this example.

6.5 OK and Cancel

When you are finished with a dialog box, click the OK button or Yes button to confirm an action and continue. If you decide to cancel what you are doing, click the Cancel or No button instead.

The database dialog boxes have additional buttons for special functions:

6.6 Save

When you are finished working with a database, click the Save button to save the changes you have made and exit the database form. You cannot exit the database dialogs with the X in the upper right corner.

6.7 Find

Click the Find button to quickly locate a particular page in a database. A second dialog box will appear where you can type in what you are looking for. (Example: the last name of a person in the Personnel Database.) Now click OK to find the first occurrence. Repeat the find operation to find the second occurrence, and so on.

6.8 Add

You can add pages to the Personnel and Special Service Databases. Click the Add button to show a blank page where you can add a new volunteer or a new Special Service. New volunteers will be automatically sorted by last name after you click Save. (The Ministry, Regular Mass, and Formats Databases have a fixed number of pages -- you cannot add or delete pages.)

6.9 Delete

Click the Delete button to delete the database page you are currently on. A dialog box will appear to confirm that you want to delete the page. Click Yes to delete. If you don’t really want to delete the page, Click No. Caution: Once a page is deleted, it is gone forever; you will have to use your backup files or start from scratch if you need to recreate it!

6.10 Page Up and Page Down

These buttons allow you to move up and down in the database one page at a time. Click the Page Up button to move toward the beginning page. Click the Page Down button to move toward the last page. The Personnel Database dialog also has a scrollbar to rapidly move through the pages of the database.
