Unfortunately, computer systems, computer software and computer users are not perfect. Sooner or later something will happen to destroy or corrupt one or more of your database files. It may be a sudden power failure, a power surge, a hard drive failure, a system "crash," a virus or an operator error.
CV-Schedule provides a convenient way to make backup copies of your database files so you won't have to start from
"scratch" and recreate your database files if something goes wrong.
When you click the Backup button on the Main Menu, this dialog appears:

You can back up your files to a removable disk or USB drive, an internal hard drive, a network location or any
other device accessible through the computer's file system. Type the location in the edit box and click OK
to start the backup.
TIP: The location or folder you specify must already exist and must not be a read-only folder. Also, you must have the proper permission to write to network locations.
TIP: You can back up to a folder on the same hard drive where CV-Schedule is installed, but that is not as
secure as backing up to a different device; a single disk failure could destroy both your original and backup files.
TIP: It is a good idea to make a set of backups any time you create or make major modifications to a database.
If you regularly backup your files to the same folder or device, you will end up with two backups of each database
file -- the latest version (with extension .DB) and the previous version (with extension .BAK). These
provide extra protection against loss of important data.
If you ever have to use your backup files, simply
copy them back into the folder where CV-Schedule is installed (usually c:\cvsched). If you restore from the .BAK
file, rename it and make the extension .DB.
